Dear NPPA members and friends,
This year Nepa Pasa Pucha Amerikaye (NPPA) is enthusiastically celebrating its 20th anniversary on Saturday, November 5, 2011. On this significant day, NPPA anticipates to publish a special issue of
its annual newsletter, DABU, covering primarily with historical evolution of Newah culture in Nepal. Therefore, NPPA respectfully requests you to send your study, experience, and reflection on
historical advancement of Newah culture in a form of article, news, literature, letter, essay, story, and poem. NPPA does not, however, limit your papers to the historical aspect only. NPPA will also accept
your papers that relate to social and cultural promotion in Newah communities in the USA, Nepal, and abroad. Please note that there will be an award for a best paper. Please encourage your children to write about their perception of Newah culture. This is indeed a good opportunity for them to express their thoughts, views, and ideas of Newah culture.
Your paper should be submitted in electronic form using Microsoft Word. Times New Roman Font is recommended for Roman script and Kantipur for Devnagari script. If your script is different than the
Roman and Devnagari, please attach a copy of the script with your paper. Writing should not exceed more than four pages with a font size of twelve.
This year NPPA is pleased to announce a contest for designing a graphic front page for Dabu newsletter. The design must address Newah culture, art, music and/or festival. It must be portrayed in a letter size white paper (8.5" X 11"). For the previous design, you can visit the NPPA's web site (http://www.nppa-usa.org). A best design will be selected by a NPPA appointed committee and will be awarded $100.00 with a NPPA certificate during NPPA's 20th anniversary on Saturday, November 5, 2011. The award-winning design will be placed in upcoming DABU newsletter.
You can send your papers through emailing at Shanti.Shrestha@nppa-usa.org ornarayan_rajbhandari@yahoo.com. Your paper must be received by the end of September 2011. There is no charge for any paper you submit (yes, it's FREE). The charge for greetings and advertisements is same as last issue, which is $30 for quarter page, $75 for half page, and $150 for full page, for inside cover in colors $200. Money collected will go to the NPPA's educational fund.
If you have any questions and concerns regarding the DABU newspaper, please feel free to contact Shanti Shrestha at (301) 947-3611 or Dr. Narayan B. Rajbhandari (Editor-In Chief, DABU Newsletter) at
919-389-7643. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
NPPA Executive Committee
